Sarah has acted as our real estate agent since our first transaction in December 2003, one of the largest transactions in San Marino, CA at that time. Since then, Sarah has handled 9 additional transactions for us that have included both the "buy side" as well as the "sell side." When I decided to sell my parent’s house, I had many choices for a realtor including many personal friends and neighbors. Judgment and Good Taste were Instrumental
I am writing to recommend Sarah Rogers to anyone who might be considering hiring Sarah to represent him or her in selling a home. As a long-time friend and adviser to a couple who lived in San Marino for over 60 years, I accepted responsibility for settling their estate following the death of the survivor of them. The survivor of them died in 2016. Never having lived in Southern California, I did not have a list of persons to call when it came time to find someone to represent me in selling the family home. I made a diligent search to identify outstanding real estate agents, and a few names kept appearing at the “top of the list”. One of those names was Sarah Rogers.
Having identified some successful real estate agents who had earned the praises of their clients, I interviewed a number of them. I was impressed by Sarah’s calm confidence, knowledge of the local real estate market, and her human intuition. Her understanding of buyers and sellers was clearly evident. I hired her.
As is usually the case with a house that has been lived in for 60 years by someone who dies in their 90s, the house to be sold was a victim of deferred maintenance. The house was not “ready for market”. Sarah went way beyond my expectations in guiding the process of upgrading the house for sale. She provided excellent advice about what should be done and recommended a number of persons to work on different aspects of upgrading the house. Everyone she recommended has great respect for Sarah, does excellent work, and was more interested in being hired again than in maximizing profit on a single job. I found them all to be knowledgeable and honorable. They worked hard to please Sarah, as well as to please me.
When the property “hit the market”, Sarah guided the process masterfully. Her marketing was top quality. She provided daily, and sometimes more frequent reports; keeping me informed of activity and interest. Fortunately, offers were received quickly, including an offer at a good price, which I accepted. The buyer wanted an early closing. Before having shown the home to prospective purchasers, Sarah had been extremely organized and thorough about having documents in order and the escrow company selected and ready to go. We were in a position to agree to close just after Christmas even though it was nearly mid-December, there was still a buyer’s inspection to be performed and much work yet to be done.
The buyer’s inspection of the house disclosed some needed maintenance, which concerned the buyer. Sarah investigated the issue and gave me excellent advice about it. She then communicated very effectively with the buyer’s agent and, in turn, guided the buyer and me to a resolution that pleased both of us. Despite this bump in the road, the sale actually closed early. Much to everyone’s satisfaction, the sale closed just before Christmas.
On balance, the entire process of selling the home could not have been handled more professionally or with greater skill. And throughout the process, Sarah’s support staff was outstanding. Adriana Ortiz and I had many phone calls and exchanged frequent emails. She was usually available, but if not, she always responded promptly. Adriana is a true professional who knows which questions to answer and which questions to pass along to Sarah. Working with her was a pleasure, and we became good friends without ever meeting in person. Even though the house sold quickly, Sarah unquestionably earned her commission. Her judgment and good taste were instrumental in the decisions made about upgrading the house, her skill and experience guided the entire process of selling the house, and her communication skills and pleasing personality made getting things done along the way happen easily.
